The Hawthorne-Scribner Scholarship Fund will assist students who cannot afford tuition to attend a quality high school in their home region!

At Hawthorne-Scribner High School, we are on the brink of something truly transformative. After years of dreaming, planning, and hard work, we’re proud to say our vision of providing quality secondary education to students from the remote areas of eastern Uganda is now a reality. But we need your help to make it accessible to every deserving student who dreams of a brighter future.

In eastern Uganda, many students face immense barriers to education, from limited access to schools and resources to long, dangerous journeys just to reach the nearest secondary school. HSHS stands as a beacon of hope, the only school in the region offering not only top-tier education, but also self-sustainability initiatives like solar energy and clean drinking water straight from the tap. Some children are lucky enough to be sponsored through our program and attend Arlington Junior School or Matuwa Junior School. These students have individual sponsors who support them through secondary and vocational education. However, there are many other deserving, exceptional students in the region. 

We’d like to provide the opportunity to exceptional students from our outreach schools to receive the kind of education offered to our sponsored students. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a tangible difference in the lives of deserving students by granting them access to quality secondary education. Here’s how your generosity will be put to use with the HSHS Scholarship Fund:

• $165 provides a uniform for one student
• $100 provides textbooks and materials for one student.
• $670 covers a full scholarship for a student for one term.
• $2,000 covers the full cost of one student’s education for an entire year.

Our boarding school model is especially valuable for students in remote areas, as it allows them to access resources they would never have had otherwise—be it academic support, extracurricular activities like sports and debate, or the life-changing experiences that campus life offers.
