Hi! Our names are Sofia Larsen, Sofia Pasquini, and Gillian Requist, and we’re raising money to support our upcoming trip to Uganda with REACH for Uganda.

Sofia L: This summer, I’ll be continuing a project that’s deeply personal to me: restocking and expanding the girls’ rooms at Arlington Junior School (AJS) and Matuwa Junior School (MJS). These rooms offer girls privacy, safety, and dignity as they navigate puberty and menstruation.

Last year, I brought over suitcases full of pads, educational books, and underwear. I also gave demonstrations on how to use these materials and led conversations with students about what menstruation is and how to manage it with confidence. It was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve ever had.

Sofia P: This cause matters so much to me because I remember how awkward and overwhelming it felt starting my period for the first time—but I had everything I needed: pads, clean clothes, and a safe space. Many girls in Uganda don’t have that. They miss school for days each month because they don’t have basic supplies or a private place to take care of themselves. I want to help change that—because no girl should have to choose between managing her period and getting an education.

Gillian R: It is so important that every girl has access to the supplies and products they need to manage their periods. Having a period shouldn’t mean that it affects girls being able to learn or go to school. By raising money for these products, I hope that the girls will be more comfortable and educated on periods and in the future have the right supplies to manage it better.

With your help, we’re hoping to raise $2,500 to fund:

  1. Pads for girls to use at school and take home

  2. Educational books about puberty and health

  3. Underwear and uniforms they can change into if needed

  4. Upgrades to the existing girls’ room facilities

These resources allow girls to stay in school during their period and ease some of the stress that comes with managing menstruation. For many students, something as small as a pad can mean the difference between missing a week of school or showing up ready to learn.

If you can donate, even just a few dollars, it would mean the world to us and make a lasting difference in these girls’ lives and educations. Thank you so much for your support!
